Our Accompanists

Bridgwater Choral Society is very fortunate to have the services of three very accomplished rehearsal pianists:-

Frances Webb :-

Frances studied music at Dartington College of Arts in Devon where she studied piano under Margaret Gulley, recorder under Piers Adams and violin under Malcolm Latchem. Working as a peripatetic music teacher/accompanist, Frances has taught piano, recorder and violin all across the country in many different places, delivering individual and group instrumental tuition and teaching curriculum music.

Frances currently teaches piano in three Somerset schools including Wells Cathedral School, the violin at Bridgwater College and is a piano accompanist at Richard Huish College in Taunton. She is very much enjoying her Saturday work including teaching piano, singing and general musicianship at Centre for Young Musicians Taunton.

Miles Quick :-

Miles was born in Taunton and studied music at Durham University and the Royal Academy of Music. He then worked in London at Merchant Taylors’ School and Westminster Abbey, and then in Norfolk at Norwich School. Returning to his roots in Somerset, he was Director of Music at Queen’s College from 2007 to 2014.

Since September 2011 he has also enjoyed working at St Mary Magdalene, and now combines this work with the post of Head of Congregational and Instrumental Music for the Royal School of Church Music.

Sam Baker :-

Sam is a pianist, organist, accompanist, saxophonist and oboist, and composer. He read Music at Oxford University, where he was the Organ Scholar of Pembroke College. He currently teaches music full time at Taunton Preparatory School and has also enjoyed working on numerous productions with Somerset Opera, including La Boheme, Pirates of Penzance, and The Yeoman of the Guard, He is a Music Director for the Bristol‐based opera company Opera­in­a­box, the most recent productions having been La Traviata, La Boheme and The Magic Flute. He is a founding member and pianist for the Exeter‐based Stella Maris Trio, performing operatic trios across Devon, Somerset, Oxfordshire, and several Oxford colleges. He plays the organ regularly at Ilminster and in the villages of Kingston St Mary and West Monkton, near Taunton.
